Brian has undertaken a wide range of assignments for clients over the course of his career. Very few of these assignments have been routine or formulaic. In most cases clients expect creative and independent thought about their issues.

The sophistication of the consultancy market has developed to the point at which a good grasp of the core public policy and economic concepts has progressed from being a competitive advantage to a condition of entry. Brian's engineering background and industry knowledge means that he is able to apply the relevant concepts taking account of the technological and economic characteristics of the industry.

These skills can be applied to a diverse range of conceptual and analytical problems that face the industry, regulators and government. Consultancy assignments that Brian has undertaken to date have focussed on:

	Applied power systems technical, financial, and economic analysis of electricity markets and networks;
	The assessment of the efficiency of network businesses;
	The development of methodologies and models to assess the efficiency of network businesses;
	The valuation of regulated assets;
	The development of network business service standards and audits of service reporting systems; and
	The development of regulatory information reporting requirements of network businesses.
